[kwlug-disc] Zorin vs Mint

I've been running Mint+Cinnamon for a few years on my desktop and laptop, having previously tested OpenSUSE (KDE), Fedora (Gnome) and before that Ubuntu. I recently started testing Kinoite on my laptop (Fedora Atomic + KDE). Haven't tried Zorin, but did look at the docs.

Mint has the best app store GUI of any distro I've tested. I like that all kinds of packages are integrated into a single GUI: cli programs, GUIs from flathub, fonts, etc, with a nice UI that includes user reviews and star ratings.

Zorin has a bad upgrade process: the only option for major release upgrade is to backup and do a clean install.

Mint + Cinnamon is fine. I don't have a favourite desktop at this point, although I prefer the vaguely Windows-like desktops. I'm going to test the Cosmic desktop as early as next month, once reviewers declare it stable enough for regular use.
