[kwlug-disc] Zorin vs Mint

I use Mint's LMDE6/7 on 4 laptops running the shipped Cinnamon DE.
I use Mint's LMDE6/7 on 5 laptops running XFCE for my work laptops.
I use the Cinnamon units for YT caca at 2 different locations with a TV
screen attached for the ease of use by non-technical people.
I prefer LMDE to the stock Mint as I absolutely need properly-working
<hibernate> and anything Ubuntu-based no longer gives me that since Ubuntu
16.04.
I prefer Appimages and Flatpaks to Snaps, so LMDE ftw for me.
All laptops hail from late 2011(2nd Gen Intel-based X220, FrankenT520,
W520) and 10th Gen Intel-based P17 Thinkpads from 2021.
No surprises, no issues, no quirks. I have all the DE bling turned off and
performance is excellent.
Fractional scaling works quite well on stock LMDE6/7 on the P17 units which
I needed to do as they are 4K 17" display. Old eyes here.
18yo and 14yo HP(wired) and Brother(wireless) printers fully supported.
Ancient 2008 Canon USB scanner fully supported.
LMDE7 is running the 6.12 kernel, so support for later CPUs/GPUs should be
decent I think.
Cinnamon feels a bit lethargic compared to Xfce, but that should not come a
surprise.
I tried Zorin for the last 6 years on a play laptop, but since I detest
Gnome with an unbridled passion and afaik Zorin is a rice'd up Gnome, I
suppose my feedback on Zorin is valueless.
Zorin was stable, all external bits supported, but the rice'd up Gnome
seemed a bit stilted for me for some vague reason.
Hope this is something here of value to you.
