[kwlug-disc] Linux & Linux admin for newbies

I think this is a brilliant idea.

I know I would personally benefit greatly from an hour dedicated to the
some aspects of the tools available via a terminal and also from various
apps in
the more popular DEs for tasks such as backups, remote syncing and the
like.

I am a big fan of the Xfce DE and appreciate the features of the Cinnamon
DE.

Being pretty new at this Linux thing, as in 11 months, I need to get more
learnin' in me for all things Linux.
After killing some 39 years in CP/M 2.2, ZCPR3, Applesoft(Apple ][), Dos
1.1-Dos 6.22, and then Windows 1.1 to current, I have a huge amount of
baggage to cast off and get on with getting on.

I've only had 2 outings to the KWLUG meets since learning about it last
July, but plan on attending many more as I find the time well-spent thanks
n no small part to the sincere efforts of all who put this on. I will have
to find a way to repay...

Since Feb last year, I have convinced and moved over 7 individuals from Win
and 2 from Apple to LinuxMint, using the Xfce and Cinnamon DEs, all 9 are
very happy and miss nothing other that some kick-ass games. I want to
convert more people, I want to be RELIGIOUS about it, haha.

I just need to get learning it(Linux cli/bash) some more and not just
clicking boxes on a DE, yeah, I would benefit from newbie sessions.

Thanks,

Ron Singh
