Yes, but probably will install on 14.04.

Not necessarily. Just some dependencies for Qt, not the whole of KDE.

Thanks for the heads up. I was considering Slackware as a possible
future option, but I will stick with KDE, or Xubuntu ...
The other option you have is if you own an Android tablet or phone.
Skype works well on those, and most new phones have a front camera for
video (if that is a must).
