[kwlug-disc] CSS: varying colours based on inheritance

You may already know this but you can put the UL colour styles in separate CSS file or just different declarations in the same file. You can have a stylesheet file with just the UL colours and it will be merged with the UL styles from other files. This may make it more manageable. It is quite typical to have multiple style sheets to separate logical styles.
