I hate to contradict but...

Hmmm, no. 

Perhaps in very particular scenarios like "there are benchmarks with such and such datasets and simple read queries where MySQL on a single-processor and with MyISAM tables is the fastest". There are many situations involving complex or write queries where MySQL is slower than other RDBMS (links needed). Also even in those simple scenarios sqlite may perform better.
