Greetings people of Earth. Have you heard of Linux? Oh wait. You have?
Well, not everybody is as fortunate as you. Maybe some humans have
never heard of Linux, and other humans have heard of it but do not
know what is, exactly. This month Jason Paul wants to fix that. He
will be trying out an "Intro to Linux" talk he has prepared for a
public speaking class. If you don't know what Linux is you can watch
his talk and be amazed; if you do know then you can get a reminder,
and maybe you will have some constructive suggestions Jason can use to
make his talk even better.

Have you heard of SQL? In the good old days, it was a language you
used to relate to databases. But now databases have gone crazy, and
SQL is used to define webpages -- not just in the form of database
queries, but to structure and define entire websites with no
additional CSS or Javascript or HTML code required. Anton Avramov will
make his KWLUG presentation debut by showing off SQLpage, a low-code
web templating engine that -- as promised -- lets you build entire
websites through nothing more than SQL statements. In addition, the
project's founder Orphir Lojkine has recorded an introduction video
for us. (Orphir would have liked to introduce SQLpage synchronously,
but he is too many timezones away.)

As usual, these presentations will begin at 7pm, after meeting
introductions and announcements.

We also have a restaurant meetup scheduled for Wednesday, May
22. It will be held at Crabby Joe's in downtown Kitchener. RSVP to
dinner at kwlug.org if you can, or just show up if you can't. Get more
info here: https://kwlug.org/node/1380 .

Monday's meeting will be hybrid as usual. Join us at
https://webconference.kwlug.org/room/kwlug or in person at LIB 329 at
the Dana Porter library. Get more info about the location here: https://kwlug.org/node/1345
