[kwlug-announce] Meeting Monday, 7pm: Ardour, Dev Containers (July 2023)

Happy July!

The KWLUG community loves its multimedia presentations, so it is a bit
of a surprise that we have never covered Ardour, the featureful DAW
(Digital Audio Workstation) software. This month we will remedy that
with a presentation from Brent Clements, who will tell us a bit about
this software and show us what it can do. 

Our second presentation this month is from Jason Paul, who is
following up his December presentation with a talk on setting up
containerized development images. Such containers allow you to get up
and running with a dev environment quickly, so that when somebody asks
you to reproduce that problem on the latest build, you don't have to
spend three days figuring out how to get that FLOSS software compiled.
As Jason is a Visual Studio Code enthusiast, he will emphasize the use
of dev containers with that IDE, but he will also discuss some
cloud-based development environments as well.

In other news, we do have a restaurant meetup scheduled for Monday,
July 17, but do not yet have a restaurant picked out for it. Stay tuned to
the KWLUG website and/or our Mastodon feed for more info. 

We are still not at the point where we can announce options for an
in-person meeting space, but we are getting closer. Hopefully we will
have this resolved within a few months (but who knows? The pandemic
has changed a lot of things.) Thanks for being patient, and thanks for
continue to attend our meetings virtually.
