It will also simplify the cabling (one cable to the laptop instead of two).

Only one device need to be powered through USB. The other has its own power
supply.

Oh, those. I have one stashed somewhere. Will look for it and try to get a
baseline on current usage.

Once I get this, how can I be sure that the hub would be able to supply
that much?
