It's been said that Office is where MS really makes its money, as opposed to desktop OS license fees. I wonder if the same is true for Visual Studio and other developer tools in comparison to server licensing software fees. Perhaps part of the business case is selling more licenses for Visual Studio, and/or MSDN subscriptions?
