[kwlug-disc] HELP -- Very new to Ubuntu

restating x fixes everything to what ever state i am in; docked or undocked.

Interestingly, the docking station has two monitor ports; the video card in
the laptop can support 3 displays.
I have not tried but, theoretically the video card can push all three
displays at the same time.
