[kwlug-disc] Koodo Cable Internet

Based on previous discussions in this group, I am posting my latest
switching of ISPs.

I had 100/30 Cable internet, with Carry Tel.
It worked well, but the price increased to $55 plus tax (and that $2 buried
in fine print).
No modem rental fees.

Last week a guy knocked on my door and said he sells Koodo Cable.
As with all door to door sales, I was about to say no, thanks.
He said it is $40 for 2 years, then goes up to $45, and no modem rental.
Same speed of 100/30.

Told him to come back in half an hour while I research.
On the web site, Koodo had $55, but $45 if you have a phone plan with them.
When the guy came back, I told him that, and he said that they have a
special promo and I don't need the phone plan to be with Koodo.

So that is a $15 per month savings for 2 years, and $10 afterwards.

I signed up with him on the tablet that he has.
Entering the credit card was NOT on his tablet.
Rather they email a link, and I enter the info on my phone or laptop.

They mailed a box that had 2 boxes in it: a cable modem, and a WiFi router.
That is convenient, since I don't have to fiddle with all-in-one units to
disable its WiFi and such.

The plan was activated yesterday, and speed test to a Rogers Kitchener
server shows 98/29 as the actual.
Pretty close to the nominal.

There are no referral codes or anything like that, but I have the guy's
phone number if someone wants to call and try.
