It works quite well, both with integrating the Collabora office suite
and with the OnlyOffice suite.

That is, in my experience,  which is mostly testing with a few
collaborators on a spreadsheet.

There's some debate on this; whether it's from Russia or by Russian
speakers in... I forget which country with a significant population of
Russian speakers. Has this been determined? And, does it matter if it's
open source? I don't know...

This looks more promising than pure OnlyOffice IMHO. With Nextcloud
backing it, it stands a good chance of easy setup.

Looks like LibreOffice has decided to work on a network based version of
their product, which has the Collabora folks unhappy as they're the main
contributor to LibreOffice.

The Document Foundation responded by "firing" the Collabora people that
worked there (this might be slightly inaccurate, there are articles out
there about it).

Not looking good for either of them, really. LibreOffice has the
recognition and distribution in repos, but no one is left to develop the
online version. Collabora has the dev skills but they build upon
LibreOffice.

I hope this gets settled.  Document Foundation had agreed to not release
an online version so as to not step on Collabora's toes.
