So I was listening to a talk about distancing oneself from Google, and
the speaker recommended https://piped.video instead of using Youtube directly.

I'd never heard of this before, so I took a look and tried it out.

Not only is it open source (meaning you can run your own instance of it
if you really want to) but the default user experience is so very fast
on my slow computer.  Youtube has been getting more and more sluggish
over the years, and sometimes Firefox updates have not helped.

But Piped?  Man alive what speed!  It feels like I'm surfing a plain old
HTML page before the javascript days, and yet it's slinging video around
willy nilly.

So I had to share this with the group.  If youtube proper is too slow for
you, and if you want another way to get away from Google, give Piped a try.
