I like the principles supported by OpenMedia, but I question their methods, approach and effectiveness.
I find I have more respect for the Electronic Frontier Foundation (eff.org), which is American.

Does anything more like the EFF currently exist in Canada?

Looking around, what I have found are some university groups.
 * U of Ottawa: Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic: https://cippic.ca/index.php?q=en/
 * U of Toronto: Citizen Lab: https://citizenlab.ca/
