I used to have a Brother HL-L2360DW. I actually kept notes on how I got it
to work with Ubuntu, but this was some six years ago, so YMMV.
Nevertheless, this is what I had to do:

You’ll need to know the IP address of the printer before you begin.

For reference, the printer’s online manual can be found at:
http://support.brother.com/g/s/id/htmldoc/printer/cv_hll2300d/use/index.html

To install the Linux drivers, download the .deb (for Debian/Ubuntu)
versions from
http://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hll2360dw_us

Get both the LPR and CUPSwrapper packages.

Install the CUPS version first, using the Ubuntu Software Manager
(double-clicking the downloaded .deb file should open the Software Manager).

Next install the LPR version in the same manner.

Now you need to install some extra files that were not included in the
downloads.

sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

sudo apt-get install lib32z1
sudo apt-get install lib32ncurses5
sudo apt-get install lib32bz2-1.0

Open the printer driver properties, change the settings from USB to network
printer.
