You don't need to.

If you are on Xubuntu or any other Ubuntu variant that uses the Ubuntu
repos, you
can just do:

sudo apt-get install kdeconnect

And it will be installed, without you having to switch to KDE. It will pull
in a whole
bunch of dependencies, but that is OK.
