Greetings Programs...

The Linux Journal is hoping to get some community feedback. If anyone here
has any ideas worth passing along then please feel free to forward them to
me, or to Jill directly if you prefer.

Thanks,

Cranky

Linux Journal Editorial Advisory Members,

I'm Jill Franklin, executive editor of Linux Journal. I've worked with many
of you over the years and thank you all for taking the time to offer your
words of wisdom to Linux Journal through this advisory group.

Today we come to you asking for your help brainstorming ways to address the
new Linux culture.

For years, Linux Journal stuck to the core "enthusiast" makeup of the
community. But a new community has emerged. Today people who are involved
in Linux ONLY professionally make up a large percentage of our community.
How do we reach out to and include those people, and most important, how do
we make them advocates for FOSS? (Because right now, to them, Linux is just
the thing buried under 100 frameworks that they write web apps for 9-5, and
FOSS is a thing they use to crowd-source their development work and to get
code from others to mash up into their code.)

We need to figure out how to include that new community while still
sticking to our core values.

Any thoughts, insights, or ideas would be greatly welcome.
