Ron,

Here is my take on this.

I never bother with specific kernel versions, LTS or not.

Whatever is in an Ubuntu LTS will be supported with patches for the
lifetime of that LTS, and that is all that matters from a security point of
view.

Unless there is a new device supported, or a fix to an existing device
driver, I never look at versions of the kernel.

One less data point to keep track of and chase ...
