That said I think you're right it would be ideal that we try and find a
system that they can't have one centralized location to squat in and
collect our metadata.  I think that at this point though having a properly
encrypted means / standard of conversation we can work on tools that wrap
around Signal or something that provides anonymity.  Although federation
would definitely be ideal.  I think that it's kind of frustrating that I
must have a cell phone number in order to validate my Signal account.
