I have not tried it. I probably ought to, but there are a lot of
things I ought to do that I don't bother doing. That doesn't stop me
from telling other people to do these things, however!

I agree that mbox format is not ideal. Having giant mail files does
make backups easier. Maybe I should move to maildir format, though --
I only require one big pile of mail logically (as opposed to
consiously filing messages into folders, which is for people with more
cognitive capacity than me).
