Does a home builder or car manufacturer have the "right" to sell you a home
where they don't give you the keys as part of the purchase?

I fully reject the idea that manufactures of electronics have some "right"
to claim they are "selling" you something where they don't transfer to you
all the rights that an owner of any other property would expect. I believe
we must all reject this notion, and work hard on provincial governments to
ensure that the basic property rights of technology owners are fully
protected in law.

If the manufacturer wishes to retain control over the devices, they must
retain ownership. This means a rental regime, not lying and calling
something a "sale" which is not a sale. The law should not allow or
protect this dishonesty. The "reasons" of someone who wants to make money
by infringing someone elses property rights shouldn't matter: this is
commercial infringement, and should be clearly illegal.
