I'd suggest picking up a remote which is compatible with Windows Media 
Centre Edition (MCE).  I've included a link[1] to one that can be had 
from Canada Computers.  These remotes usually have a decent IR receiver, 
and I they all have IR blasters built in too.

Once you have an MCE-compatible IR receiver, you should be able to get 
all the info you need from the MythTv wiki[2].

For extra credit, you can probably even set up your TV's remote to work 
with MythTV instead of using the MCE remote.  If you decide to go this 
route I can help with the details.
