[kwlug-disc] KWLUG, Voip, and beyond?

I have access to a venue with a capacity of about 70. Depending on the night it may be available to us. It would cost us 15 bucks an hour to staff the place and the bar would be open :-)

I sent a quick query as to venue costs: $50/hr, plus $20/hr custodial (if
evening/weekend). PLUS INSURANCE - to which I have no knowledge and can't
even guess.

- No doubt it will be more, but that is ballpark. e.g. A body to put out /
monitor screens, projectors, audio. Wouldn't be much more. We put out
already present tables/chairs, etc.

Would be much less if audience is restricted to home / community, free
entry, etc. i.e. A save money, non-profit, event, a la, kwlug.

And it's likely something in between could be negotiated, if more details
were known. e.g. Sponsorship might not put us into the 'commercial'
category (e.g. Kiwi helping out with sample equipment), or someone donated
coffee / cups.

If nothing else, these details provide a benchmark against which to
evaluate other possibilities.
