Raul mentions "one issue" parties. I think there is also a problem with 
"one issue" constituents, i.e. those who may make a decision based on 
one issue and the stand of candidates and parties on that one issue, 
instead of the wide spectrum of issues and the broader stance of the 
candidates and parties across this spectrum. The "producer, consumer, 
parent, driver, home owner" may each have different concerns, but the 
person who encapsulates these different persona has but one vote.
