If work ever lets me attend another one of these meetings I can see about tweeking the sound a bit. There are better microphones for that purpose.

The issue is not the sound system but the users of it. Neither is it
the set up. It does as well as any sound system can, given the
background noise level, and the physical layout and dimensions of the
room.

The advantage, of course, of not needing a sound system, is that those
forgetting to pay rigid attention to where the microphone is, no
longer have to.

A wireless headset might make a difference, but we don't have one, nor
the resources for one. Nor would it cover audience members who
participate throughout. Be it with announcements, or those posing
questions.

Yes, but only for those who are able to squeeze into the front.

Of course they can, given a sufficient number of people.

We have a sufficient number of people.

I think you might find King & William to be even closer than SJK.

I don't think you'll find much that's more 'central.'

Neutral? Maybe. Maybe not.

And that was the only point of the post.

However ... enough messages have gone by that maybe it should be
brought up at a meeting. Just to put the darned thing to rest.
