[kwlug-disc] pixel art with gimp?

  being a relative newbie with gimp, what's the easiest way to design
some WUXGA test patterns where i can define colours down to the pixel
level?  i want to be able to have, say, alternating pixels of black
and white to really stress a projector, that sort of thing.

  i know gimp has Perl (and probably Python) APIs, is that the easiest
way to go?  thanks.
