Any reason not to use Windows in a VM? I find it much more flexible to
start and stop Windows as needed without upsetting the main OS.
VirtualBox is a good solution here and the Personal Evaluation version
has all the bells and whistles: USB, remote desktop... If you go
non-free then VMware Server is nicely polished too.
With a CPU that handles virtualization in hardware (look for AMD-V and
VT for Intel), performance is essentially native.
