And smart business sense. No more returns due to bent or broken pins. It's the motherboard whose socket is now fragile.

Land design.  Those motherboard pins are much more durable than you gave
them credit for.. and the small pins on AMD cpus are so fragile, I'd be
afraid to blow on them.
