kwlug-help -- KWLUG friendly help

About kwlug-help
English (USA)

This is a friendly, low-intimidation forum for KWLUG members to ask for tech help with Linux and other free/open source software. We won't fix your computer for you but we can try to point you in the right direction.

Note that you need to subscribe to this list in order to post your question.

New Linux users are especially welcome on this list. It is especially appropriate for those who find the general discussion list too overwhelming.

No question is too simple to ask, and we can help you phrase your question in the right technical terms.

If you are asking a question, you will get better responses if you include the following information:

  • What you are trying to do
  • What is going wrong
  • Any error messages you get (the more exact, the better)
  • What you have tried already
  • Details about the hardware and software you are using:

    • What linux distro are you using?
    • If a piece of hardware is not working, what is the make and model of the device?
    • If some software is not working right, what is the name and version of the software?

If you don't know how to find this information we can help you, but the conversation (and your answers) will go more slowly. It is also good to include an informative subject line in your post.
