Tangentially related:

The only EV car model that is somewhat 'open' is the Nissan LEAF.
People can swap the batteries themselves.
And there is software called Leaf Spy that gives battery health, ...etc.

The LEAF is a so-so car though. It does not have battery heaters at all,
and its range is very limited.

But the 2026 model is said to have solved those limitations.

So maybe in a few years I can consider an off lease 2026 Nissan LEAF.
