I'm okay with the decision.

I guess, from Chris's post, this gives members the ability to generate
content for Linux Association? (Without paying for the privilege.)

Yeah, it's not really clear what all this is about.
I see there's been some changes on the site recently.
The most prominent link on the front page is to Memberships: there were
seven levels of sponsorship granting access to about 30 features. This
has now been broken down into 3 tabs for Users, User Groups, Business /
Sponsors.
Also, "Advertise Here" link next to announcement about KWLUG.
Seems more focused on collecting money than participating in existing LUGs.
I dunno. I previously thought, "Let him try to accomplish his lofty
goals, no harm." I'm now seeing prominent requests for funds, multiple
payment methods, a slick web site, but an expectation that LAC is at the
centre of Linux in Canada despite seeming like an outsider.
Is this guy on any LUG mailing lists, for example? Those are free and if
not even on a mailing list, how much of a community member is he?
I guess I'm feeling a shift from "I don't see how it can work" to "It
feels like a cash grab from an outsider trying to become a middleman."
Question 1: How many KWLUG folks are "members" of multiple LUGs (member
meaning on mailing lists)?
Question 2: How about it Andre - are you on this list? Care to introduce
yourself, discuss LAC's goals?
