Well, both VoIP.ms Softphone and MicroSIP support SMS, but not MMS.
VoIP.ms portal supports SMS/MMS, but you have to turn them on and pay.

Same here.  I can leave my laptop on and plugged in at home, just like 
physical handset.  Wiki says VoIP.ms can do video call, depending on 
softphone.  That would be next challenge.  I was going to disconnect the 
old home phone.  And, now, I'm finding new uses for that number. :-)

Built-in app doesn't (Samsung A16), because it's going through mobile 
network.  VoIP.ms has their own softphone, so I installed it.  I don't 
care about FLOSS at this point.
