In addition to what other folks have suggested, if you want to dig deeper,
use the 'apt-mark' command, specifically 'apt-mark showmanual'.
This is a list of packages which you personally have requested to
be installed.  Everything else is a dependency, and can be removed
via autoremove.

You can set a package to manual with 'apt-get install' (even if it's
already installed) or with apt-mark itself.
