Not really answering your question directly, but I use gparted (or non-X 
parted) for such things. It understands the various Linux and MS Windows 
filesystem types, and makes such live moves much less stressful than 
doing a string of separate moves, any one of which can destroy your 
system if you make a mistake.

Admittedly I'm not sure I've used it for RAID setups, but it is still 
very useful.
