Digikam brings along a whack of KDE dependencies with it -- not sure if you
are using a distro with the KDE desktop.

You might want to try Digikam packaged as an AppImage first to see if it
does what you need.

The download options on the upper-left-hand of your screen offers 32-bit
and 64-bit AppImages of DigiKam.
