Now I really wish that I had arrived on time.. I wanted to see the Kali
part, at least.

I do have a question, though.. I have my Lenovo Y500 laptop that's a few
years old but still chugging along. I have tried on several occasions
(i.e. with several different versions) to install Kali but I get the
weirdest video issue. I can install Ubuntu or Fedora just fine, btw.. But
for Kali when I try to do the installation (and I get the same whether I
use any of the graphical or text versions of the install) my screen gets
split up into nine sections, like a tic-tac-toe grid, and I can see three
copies of the installer along the top three squares of the grid. The three
screens/grids/whatever are too illegible to actually use, so I have to
abort the install. I've googled this to no end and the only possible fix I
found was to add a certain config (which I no longer recall) line to the
installer on the USB stick, but even that never worked.

Has anyone ever seen this weird video issue before? Like I say, I can
install Ubuntu with no issues. You'd think that Kali (which last I heard
was built on Ubuntu) would work just the same.
