[kwlug-disc] Bad sectors on two new disks

My first post/reply on here, hope I am doing it right, I am a bona fide
kwlug newbie.

I have had similar SMART info returned to me with 2 HGST 1TB 7200 2.5"
disks stuck in external USB2 chassis and found out that the USB ports on
target laptop(TP X61s) did not have enough juice to keep the USB-powered
HGST drives steady.

My solution was plug the USB drives into a powered USB hub and use them on
the X61s that way.
SMART read errors went away.

Mebbe you are having a similar issue?

Thanks,
