There should be libre/open-source software out there to tell you the
existing keys? Then, if you have the Win7 install media, you're good
to go? Wonder if there's a way to restore activation similar to the
old XP wpa file for Win7?

If you don't have the time or aren't inclined to mess with this, you
can always call the Microsoft support line, they're very helpful. It
would be nice if there were GNU/Linux and OpenBSD support that were as
friendly and helpful as the Microsoft staff... Maybe there is, but I'm
not aware of it. My point being... they understand the importance of
good customer service, in providing consistently good customer
experience.
