Is xabber the same as XMPP? I thought that Google had abandoned XMPP in
Google Talk, and making Hangouts their only person-to-person
communications offering.

If anyone's up to experimenting, my XMPP address is bjonkman at sobac.com
and I'd be happy to see if Hangout-XMPP communication is possible.
