But, you're blaming the hardware companies for making decisions in their own self-interest.  Hardware companies don't care Windows or Linux.  If we LInux guys go out and buy new hardwares every time kernel level changes, then they would pay attention to Linux also.  Instead, Linux is promoted as means to avoid having to buy new hardwares.
