Looks like IPv6 is looming - and this time they're not just crying 
wolf.  We may be seeing IPv6 by end of year.

This site had some really good information on some easy tests to see if 
your system is ready:

Looks like you better be running a linux kernel 2.6 or you're going to 
have problems.  No idea how many sites are running 2.4 or 2.2 kernels, 
but I bet it's substantial.

In any event, some of the tests (dns/ping etc) on that link give some 
pretty quick indicators as to the status of your servers.  What they 
won't likely test for are other things like logging software, shopping 
carts that track IP address, all the individually written programs.

This is going to be worse than Y2K.  Linux vendors, it might be worth 
having a package special for testing whether a system/network is ready 
for ipv6.   Because I think people are going to be searching soon.
