I plugged (USB) an HP LJ 3380 multifunction into my 9.10 laptop the
other day.  The system politely announced that it had configured the
printer and it was ready for use.

So much for "hard to use" Linux.  Thanks to HP and the
system-config-printer team!

I don't know about Windows 7, but XP with the same hardware is a 5 min+
exercise in downloads and manual installation.
