[kwlug-disc] Burning Karmic's Kubuntu netbook remix

I've had success in burning ISOs meant for a CD to a DVD.  

I have also seen 800 MB CD-R disks (not CD-RW).  I think some
applications (Nero for Windows?) do some jiggery-pokery to write to
reserved sectors -- I'm not sure how it works, and haven't done it
myself.
