Hi all,

Our company is looking for a junior or intermediate support
person. I suspect a lot of people here are beyond that, but might
have contacts or younger people who might fit the role. (Of
course, someone here would be wonderful, too. :) ). The job will
likely grow into either a Linux sysadmin position, or a software
development position over time, depending on the person's
preferences.

About us;

Alteeve is the developer of the open source "Anvil!"
Intelligent Availability platform. It's an on-prem cluster based
on RHEL/CentOS that hosts customer's server VMs (on top of
pacemaker, drbd, and KVM/qemu). I'd say ~90% of the servers
running on our client's Anvil! systems are windows, most being
Win2019 with some Win10 and a smattering of other versions. The
other 10% are various flavours of RHEL/CentOS or Ubuntu. We also
provide Acronis-based backup services to our clients, which is
something the person we're looking for would help clients with.

The most common types of support requested of us tend to relate
to assisting with performance debugging, boot issues, etc. We're
NOT an MSP, any tend to restrict our support to clients to base OS
functions. So the person we hire needs to be OK managing basic
windows functions (and similar in linux), but they're not expected
to be windows admins at all. Beyond this, installing Acronis
backup and training clients in how to manage their install is part
of the job.

The person we're looking for would be the primary point of
contact for support tickets (managed via hosted Jira). However,
they'll be supported by more senior techs, and we would provide
any needed training.

The focus of the training will be on the Linux side, learning
about high availability, replicated storage, KVM/qemu hypervisors,
postgresql basics, and so on. As time allows and skill grow, the
person would learn about / assist with deployment of machines,
which includes building/managing enterprise power and networking
equipment, etc.

The job is mostly remote, though we're actively looking for an
office space in KW. So the option to work in an office is
available. The candidate would be needed in the office when
equipment is being received / assembled / shipped out when I or
someone else isn't available (this would not be their primary
task).

Being a support role, there will be some scheduled on-call
times.

We're offering $50~$60k, plus fairly generous family
health/dental benefits. The full job description is here:

If anyone is interested, or knows someone who might be, feel
free to email me directly as well, and I'd be happy to answer any
questions.
