I'm more than happy to let this thread rest. Yet it is hard to overlook<br>

I hope that everyone can see that there is a difference between promoting<br>
free speech and promoting good behaviour, good words, and good manners.<br>
If I defend the right for RMS to speak his mind, I can still defend,<br>
and do defend and promote, the path of love and kindness in words and deeds.<br>

I'm also not fully married to the concept of free speech, as surprising<br>
as that may be to hear. I believe someday, maybe far in the future,<br>
we will all give it up anyway. Free speech opens the door to a slippery<br>
slope, and it can be argued that it is not a good thing, only a convenient<br>
thing: a crude legal mechanism to legislate tolerance and patience<br>
with others. But I am afraid of what will happen to our society if we<br>
do give it up.<br>
