I did install the Zoom .deb package on my Debian (stable) desktop.
Everything seemed to be working fine - however as I was setting up
my profile I got the following message

[Uplevel Your Meetings with Zoom Pro
Your Zoom Basic plan has a 40-minute time limit on meetings
with 3 or more participants. Upgrade now to enjoy unlimited group
meeting minutes.]

I'm guessing others have figured out how not to be restricted with
this time limit (someone may have a pro account) - however thought
I'd share.

Thanks
I know; we should all be using open source, decentralized, peer-to-peer video conferencing software instead.

On Linux, I have only been able to get it working with the client
software. Somebody sends me a Zoom link and then it prompts me to open
that link with the plugin.
It is a shame that Zoom is becoming the standard, but if we didn't
want that we should have been born into a different timeline.

Thanks, Paul. Zoom seems to be catching on with my crowd, so we've been using Zoom for social get-togethers. So far it only works for me on my mac laptop in the Chrome browser. It doesn't work for me in Firefox, but I have so many security- and privacy-protecting browser extensions loaded that it's not surprising, and I haven't actually tried to get it working on Linux.

Okay, I verified that the Zoom plugin for Linux does work on Ubuntu
18.04. I tested Zoom with Charles today, and we were both on Linux
computers.
(That does not mean I am announcing that we are holding the KWLUG
meeting on Zoom. I just wanted to answer Doug's question.)
