<div dir="ltr"><div><div>We used to have a working relationship with Eco-Tech when the Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) first started up. At that point we were feeding Eco-Tech all of our ewaste because they were close to us. Before this we worked with partners in London and other cities. Those partners always supported us with a small cut of the ewaste profits whereas when we worked with Eco-Tech we weren't getting any money from them. This wasn't a huge deal for us at that point because we were happy to support a then new enterprise (Eco-Tech) in the area.</div><div><br></div><div>A little over a year or two after OES came into being they became a bit less flexible and indicated to us that we had to stop sending eWaste to Eco-Tech because both our organization and Eco-Tech were classified as "collectors." The idea is you have collection sites and they're suppose to feed what's known as a primary processor (end of life, like Greentec, Geep, etc.). Since Eco-Tech wasn't a primary processor, if we wanted to remain part of OES we were forbidden from taking eWaste to them. (This despite the fact we actually had a signed agreement with the president of OES that allowed that exception because we were a small community processor). <br></div><div><br></div><div>I met with the owner of Eco-Tech a couple of times and tried to explain the situation, but he wasn't hearing any of it, he was stuck on the fact that we were "dropping" them as an ewaste downstream. I think he was thinking it was about money (the fact that we didn't receive any from Eco-Tech), because he offered to incentivize it, but couldn't quite understand that it had nothing to do with money and everything to do with OES' rules. Unfortunately he was very unprofessional. I remember him grumbling that he was going to take us off their web site (which he did) as a partner and leaving in a huff.</div><div><br></div><div>Over they years we've continued to send people to Eco-Tech when the situation fits (for example: when people don't fit into the low income bracket and are looking for a Windows system) but we are a bit soured on them because of the owner's past behavior.<br></div></div></div><div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Wed, Jul 10, 2019 at 2:16 PM Ron Singh <<a href="mailto:ronsingh149@gmail.com" target="_blank">ronsingh149@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif">And if that Eco-Tech is a viable choice, I can take the hardware over to them in my truck as they are a few blocks away from my Wloo office.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif"><br></div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail-m_5262060848076605279m_-2000365374606222034gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div>Thanks,<br><br>Ron Singh<br><br></div></div></div></div><br></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Wed, Jul 10, 2019 at 2:03 PM CrankyOldBugger <<a href="mailto:crankyoldbugger@gmail.com" target="_blank">crankyoldbugger@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div>This is probably a long shot, but what about some of the places around town that sell recycled computers (besides the great Computer Recycling shop, of course).. for example, Eco-Tech at <a href="https://www.eco-techrecycling.com/pcsales.php" target="_blank">https://www.eco-techrecycling.com/pcsales.php</a> ?</div><div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Wed, 10 Jul 2019 at 13:49, Paul Nijjar via kwlug-disc <<a href="mailto:kwlug-disc@kwlug.org" target="_blank">kwlug-disc@kwlug.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">I am trying to clear Computer Recycling of some donated server<br>
equipment (including those giant disk arrays I was writing about a few<br>
months ago). I have posted a couple of things on Kijiji but have<br>
gotten no nibbles. I do not know whether this is because local Kijiji<br>
does not have a critical mass of users or whether it is because the<br>
site is now flooded with promoted business ads.<br>

Ebay is the next logical choice, but I do not want to deal with the<br>
hassle of packing and shipping 50lb drive arrays. <br>

Are there any other good local options for selling older used server stuff<br>
locally? This would probably be more for the home server market, or<br>
possibly (but not likely) for small businesses. <br>
