    <p>What I rely on is the ability of the distro to identify packages
      that are not needed and removing them using 'autoremove'.  I run
      Debian - not sure if this is distro specific or available across
      all flavors of Linux.</p>
    <p>I run XFCE and have Digikam installed.<br>
