I can't speak for Wordpress.<br>

But for Drupal, I abandoned all captcha solutions.<br>

The one that works for me is the 'antibot' modules. It uses Javascript, and<br>
will filter all automated bots.<br>
<br>
It will not stop an actual human though, but on my web sites, these are<br>
not frequent and are not an issue so far.<br>
